Cooking tips for the most special food of Bhutan

Cooking is the art of preparing food for consumption in different forms using different methods. It involves different ingredients  and different tools. In order to prepare simple food we need to combine different types of ingredients. Cooking helps us to keep our body healthy and strong. Moreover cooking plays a major role in preserving our culture and bringing people and family together over meals. In Bhutan we have many special foods. Among many special foods, here I am going to share the most special food of Bhutan which attracts more tourists. 


How to cook Phaksha Paa?

Phaksha Paa is described as pork with red chilies. To prepare phaksha paa the ingredients that are involved are:
Ingredients:
Dry or wet pork( quantity will differ from the head of the people).
Dry Red chilies(quantity will differ from the amount of pork)
Small quantity of chilies powder
Ginger to increase taste of the recipes
Onion 
Green  onion leaf
salt and oil.
Firstly boil phaksha for 4-5 minutes in a pressure cooker and then next fried onion until the onion changes to red color. After that, put phaksha together with onion and fry for around 3-4 minutes. Then add dry red chilies and a little amount of chili powder and fry for 10 minutes. To increase the taste of my recipes, add a little amount of fresh ginger. Lastly add 2-3 green onion leaves for color  for 3 minutes after adding green onion leaves. Now my phakshak is ready. 
 
 
 


How to cook Ema Datshi ?

Ema Datshi literally means curry made  out of chilies and cheese. We can cook ema datshi with three types of chilies: Dry red chilies, White dry chilies and Green chilies. But I am going to share cooking tips of ema datshi with red dry chilies. Ingredients involved in cooking ema datshi are:
Dry red chilies( amount will depend from amount of heads)
Datshi(cheese) both local and other one.
Garlic heads
Onion leaves
Tomatoes
Take dry red chilies and put them into a pot. The quantity will be differ from heads. After that add 5-7 pieces of garlic heads and tomatoes to reduce the flavor. After putting in the chilies, garlic and tomatoes, add some amount of cheese, oil, salt and a cup of water. So lastly I started to cook after 3 minutes and added three green onion leaves to give a good color then keep for 2 minutes. Now my ema datshi is ready.


 

Process of preparing Hoentay.

Hoentay is one of the famous and unique foods of Bhutan. It is famous in Haa valley in Bhutan. Hoentay can be made out of different flour but usually hoentay are made with buckwheat flour. Ingredient we need are:
⦁     Buckwheat flour
Water
Salt 
cheese(Local)
Butter 
Green veggies(spinach)
Onion leaves 
Ginger
Firstly we need to mix buckwheat flour and water together using grinding. After that, cut all the green veggies, ginger and onion leaves into the smallest parts. Then collect to one container and mix gently with better and cheese. While mixing add salt. At last just wrapped with buckwheat flour and made in different shapes. After all, stream for 15-20 minutes and have it.



 

How to cook Kewa Datshi?

Kewa Datshi is one of the favorite foods for small kids and ladies. It is very easy to cook kewa datshi. Kewa datshi can be made into different methods and in different forms. Some like to have fried dry kewa datshi and some like with curry soup. I will share how to cook kewa datshi with soup. Ingredient needed are:
Potatoes 
Chilies powder( some used green chilies)
Garlic 
Onion
Tomatoes 
Salt 
Water
Before we cook we need to peel the potatoes. After that, cut it into a small square shape. Then cut onion and fried onion until it changes into red color. After that add potatoes and fry until it changes into something like brown. Add one little water, chilies, boil somewhat for 30 minutes, and then add garlic tomatoes and some cheese then boil for 5 minutes. In total, cook for 35 minutes.





To be strong we need to eat good meals. To eat good meals, cooking is a must. Cooking is something that deals with making something for consumption. It also helps to preserve our special culture. Cooking is not only to prepare foods but it also includes use of different tools that are involved for cooking.
